This was one of many ring islands in Halong bay. The water you see is the lagoon inside the island. - The boat
Spent 3 days and 2 nights on this boat. - Floating Fishing Villages
This was a flaoting fish farm and restaraunt. Here, the cooks are picking out which crab to cook up for some customers. - Sunset
Sunset in Halong Bay. - Floating Fishing Villages
Outside the boundries of Halong Bay are many floating fish farm villages. People live out their lives on these floating shacks, growing various sea creatures for sale. Baskets are hung from bamboo grids kept afloat by styrofoam blocks (or anything else that floats). Mollusks like clams or mussels are then grown in these baskets. Where the water is shallow enough the baskets are simply placed on the seafloor. You can see both methods in the picture. - Halong Bay
Halong bay is an archipelago of 2000 tiny and mostly uninhabited islands. - Halong Bay
This is an opening that is exposed during low-ish tides. On the other side is a lagoon that is only accessible via this opening, which is kayakable. - Halong Bay
