The indigenous folks of the sapa region are called 'Minority People' by the Vietnamese. They are known for nearly always carrying something on their back, dressing a bit flamboyantly, and nearly always having a smile on their face. - Terrace Close-up
This is a terrace that is now used for crops other than rice (in fact, I don't know what this crop is). The mechanics of the terraces is quite interesting, as there is always some sort of plumbing going on. Water comes into the terrace from terraces above, then is diverted to other terraces below. Sometimes via small waterfalls, like the one pictured here, or sometimes with small aquaducts made from bamboo. - Blankets
I don't really know what was going on here. This was behind the church in Sapa. It appeared to be some sort of overnight retreat for the kids (although this was outdoors). - Minority People

The view of Sapa from the hotel room. It's very easy to see the french influence in the architecture (and the food). - Houses on a Hill
Just some houses on a hill in Sapa - Sapa Rice Terraces
This is what Sapa is known for. Closer to town, though, alot of the terraces are used for crops other than rice. (upper right of this picture) - Rice Terraces
This is what Sapa is known for. These terraces are cut into the hilly landscape and used as flat surfaces for growing rice.
