Intramuros is one of the oldest sections of Manila and was the seat of the gornment during the era of Spanish rule. Now it is buildings largely in ruin walled off from the rest of the city with meticulously kept gardens. Inside, it's calm and beautiful. It's easy to forget you're in Manila.
